A smaller turnout than usual due to several members traveling to QSAC NCS Speed
Week races. There were (6) racers present for Non-Points Race #4, the first
night race of the summer starting at 4:00pm. It was still HOT with temperature
in the mid-90s.
At the driver’s meeting we went ahead and set the schedule for
the make-up Points race than was rained out. It will be a double main starting
at 3:00 pm. In the second Main the field will be inverted from the results of
the first Main. Points will be separate for each Main. The only lost points
will be the two (2) of the three (3) Bonus points from the rained out Main. The
winner of the second Main will collect that Bonus Point.

The top 3 in Sportsman Timed Qualifying were Jerry Evans (TNT)
@ 6.149 seconds, 2nd Eddie Dunn (Lightning) @ 6.283 (which he ran right before
time ran out) and 3rd James Adamson (Lightning) @ 6.312 seconds.

Jerry Evans controlled the race but was not the fastest car as
James Adamson set the fast lap time and had the lower Top 15 times compared to
Jerry, however Jerry’s experience and more constant laps times over the entire
race was the difference. A late caution caused the Heat to finish under yellow.

This was pretty much a repeat from the 1st Heat. James Adamson
would lead thru Lap 9, where Jerry Evans took over 1st. It was then a situation
where James would run Jerry back down but could not complete the pass and/or
make a small mistake to drop him back from Jerry. Again James Adamson had the fast
lap of the Heat and the faster Top 15 times, but Jerry would take the win in a
close tight race.

Wayne Rogers would lead from the beginning up until late in
the Heat and was passed by Mike Clark on lap 41 and he would take the Win.
Wayne Rogers had very consistent Top 15 times with just 0.053 difference
between his Fast lap and his Top 15 lap, but Mike Clark was faster than Wayne
and it just took time for Mike to catch him in a caution free race.

Again Jerry Evans would win the Heat, but it was a very close
competitive race until James Adamson had some mechanical issue coming out of
turn 4 and nailed the wall hard braking his right front suspension and could
not continue. The heat stopped there as Eddie Dunn was a DNS.

A fun Heat to watch as each driver lead laps during the Heat.
This time Wayne Rogers would return the favor from the previous Heat and take
over the lead late from Mike Clark on lap 38 and hold that lead for the Heat
win.

Jerry
Evans would lead earlier in the Main and was passed for 1st by Mike Clark on
lap 35.
There
was continuous passing for 2-4th. James Adamson set fast Lap of the first 75
laps on lap 47 with a time of 6.217 seconds and was as high as 2nd but from
there start slowing down and would drop out on lap 75 during the fuel stop with
mechanical issues finishing 5th.
Jerry
Evans would take 1st back over on lap 53 and hold that position to the halfway
fuel stop at lap 75.
Running
order at fuel stop: 1st Jerry Evans, 2nd Mike Clark, 3rd Wayne Rogers and 4th
David Swearengin.
The
2nd half of the Main was marked by Wayne Rogers passing Mike Clark for 2nd on
lap 79 and would he be able to hold Mike back. Remember back in the Heats both
of them had passed the other late in the Heats to take the win over the others.
Mike dropped back a little bit, but a caution on lap 128 put them nose to tail.
Wayne Rogers got his normally good restart, but Mike would not give up. On lap
142 Mike got position under Wayne when he pushed up a little and took over 2nd.
Jerry Evans loved them battling for 2nd and pulled out the Win by 4.150 seconds
over Mike Clark.
